Box signs can be pole-mounted or building mounted.  They are typically built from an aluminum cabinet, internally illuminated, and decorated with some sort of plex face.  Faces can be standard flat plex, or pan face, or embossed pan face.  Traditionally illuminated with fluorescent tubes or neon, these days many manufacturers are switching to LED’s (light emitting diode) for lighting, which burn brighter and use less electricity.
